Dark Web

Everyone knows about the Internet right? No, you are wrong. Not all of us fully know about it. There are a lot things which are hidden to us through the Internet. In this blog some of the dark and hidden secrets of the Internet will be covered.

How big is the Internet ?

We all use Internet in our daily life. We know the importance of it as well but do you even know how big is the internet being used by us or also known as the surface web?

As you can see the surface web or the web we use in our daily life is just a tip of an Iceberg. The Surface web only consists less then 10 percent of the information that is on the Internet.

We are not looking at the surface web as we all know about it. So, let’s directly go to “Dark Web“.

What is Dark Web ?

The dark web is a part of the internet that isn’t indexed by search engines. The dark web was actually created by the US government to allow spies to exchange information completely anonymously but now it has gone totally wild as you can see all the illegal things on this section of web and buy every illegal thing you can’t buy on the surface web or any other place easily. Here you can buy credit card numbers, all manner of drugs, guns, counterfeit money, stolen subscription credentials, hacked Netflix accounts and software that helps you break into other people’s computers. Buy login credentials to a $50,000 Bank of America account for $500. Get $3,000 in counterfeit $20 bills for $600. You can also hire hackers to attack computers for you and hire Hitman to kill someone or attack at someone either it’s a normal person or some important person. That’s not everything, there’s many more you can find on the Dark Web.

Size of the Dark Web

It is said that the surface web is 0.03% of the total internet. Estimates based on extrapolations from a study done at University of California, Berkeley in 2001, speculate that the Dark Web consists of about 7,500 terabytes that means the deep web is about 400 to 550 times the size of the “surface web” and increasing heavily as the years are passing.

How can you access the Dark Web ?

You would think that surfing the dark web would be easy and safe but that’s not true. As it is full of illegal activities it’s a quite risky surfing through it. But it can be surfed with a full anonymity through anonymous web browser called Tor. The Tor Browser routes your web page requests through a series of proxy servers operated by thousands of volunteers around the globe, rendering your IP address unidentifiable and untraceable. Tor works like magic, but the result is an experience that’s like the dark web itself: unpredictable, unreliable and maddeningly slow.

Dark Web Search Engines

You can not use the search engine used on the normal internet. There are some special kind of search engines which hide your identity and are safe for surfing through Dark Web. Some of them are listed below

  • Duckduckgo
  • Candle
  • Not Evil
  • Torch
  • Grams
  • Kilos
  • Onion Land
  • SearX

There is a special domain name given to dark web sites which contain random words as a prefix and a .onion domain as a suffix. Ex:- http://3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion/

Buying goods on Dark Web

You can buy anything on the dark web, mostly illegal things. It’s totally illegal to buy goods on dark web as you can get caught or may be sentenced to prison so it’s all a game of risk. You need cryptocurrency to order goods on the darknet. Bitcoin (BTC) is the most widely used cryptocurrency, both on the darknet and elsewhere, but certain DNMs favor monero (XMR) instead. Monero is essentially a more private version of bitcoin that makes it harder for anyone to connect XMR transactions with your real world identity. Crypto currency is a bit safer as it is an anonymous transaction currency which hides the identity of both the Seller as well the Buyer.
